What did they expect?

…the true messiah?
Liberals are disappointed with Barack Hussein Obama; turns out he’s just like every other politician. There is no Hope, very little Change and so much flipping on important issues the man could power a generator with his perpetual turning.
*”First, he broke his promise to try to keep both major parties within public-financing [...]

Independence Day

Happy 232nd Birthday, United States of America! May you always remain free…!
This day always reminds me of Norman Rockwell’s ‘Freedom’ series: Freedom from Fear, Freedom from Want, Freedom of Speech and Freedom to Worship.

And even today I remember those who fought to make us free. Freedom is never free; it’s always paid for [...]

Marathon puppy mill

Another puppy mill busted, this time here in the Florida keys. Thankfully only 46 dogs were found in the warehouse.
“The dogs were just puppy machines. No toys, no windows,” said Linda Gottwaldof of Marathon’s Animal Shelter.
Gottwaldof said one walk-in closet had 16 puppies, with only one cereal bowl full of water. She said the [...]

Where have they been?

The 130 puppy mill dogs I mentioned earlier? Our chances of getting one are close to nil now. THREE HUNDRED people lined up this morning in front of the Broward county shelter and more filtered in throughout the day. Four and six families at a time were trying to adopt the same [...]

Insurance update

To be honest, I had forgotten my anger with her when the agent called with the news that she had found another insurance company that would cover us. And -get ready for it- with the wind mitigation report, the total for the year was 1,000. less than we were paying with Citizen’s.
I asked [...]

la chaise

I turned from my typing to see this:

So in the interest of full disclosure I went around to the front of the chair to take the corresponding shot, which I love even more than the convoluted mess up top…

They’re just danglin’.
The State of the Dog is good. She’s thriving on raw chicken [...]

New possibilities

One hundred thirty dogs from a puppy mill in Lyles, Tennessee were brought in to the Broward county Humane facility yesterday and are being readied for adoption.
Dachshunds are among them.
Arthur mentioned it this morning but I’d already seen the story on the news and thought the same thing… a new dog for us? [...]

Another lesson learned

As much as I loathe seeing Christmas decorations in August, I’m on the holidays this year. Unlike last year, which we’ll just call ‘the year of quick excess’, I’ve already purchased two Christmas presents and some Thanksgiving decorations at a deeply discounted sale.
There are some things I don’t -and won’t- need, such as Halloween [...]
