Today is my birthday… the big five-one. Turns out that I’m still me and you’re still you, so everything’s okay.
That probably sounds a little strange, and that’s fine too. Strange things are constantly happening all around us.

To wit: Four days ago we had a very sudden, very bad storm. The wind was almost hurricane force just like that. It was so bad that our patio table, a very solid piece of furniture, not only fell, but went completely over onto its glass top.
So bad that a rat, obviously seeking shelter under the water reservoir that holds the basketball net , became trapped by the tail when it rocked from the wind. We found him yesterday, dead, still trapped. The truly odd thing is that Bree never told me about him.

Life is full of the odd and sublime. I like to embrace both.

VW also turns the page today. Please wish her a happy birthday as well!!

Kathy at Brazoscowgirl has a message for Nancy Pelosi! Do we know exactly where Nancy is in San Fran? Because I’d love to hear that someone honked at her on my birthday… heh…

I also want to say that I won’t be eating Tyson foods any more, not if I’m aware it’s Tyson, anyway. My take on it is: you can run your company any way you damn well please, but I don’t have to buy from you.
Can you say Perdue? I thought you could.

At least 30 of the House Republicans will be back today to continue their protest. Hopefully more will join them…

GOP members say they would not be holding this debate tomorrow, if the Democratic nominee had not modified his position on off shore drilling.

They believe that with Obama and his Republican opponent John McCain, appearing to be in “agreement” about off shore drilling, then Speaker Nancy Pelosi should recall the Congress from recess, and put an energy bill on the floor in August.
