I just took an apprising peek into the garage, with the purpose of a good cleaning in mind. Usually I dart in, get what I need and skedaddle back into the sunlight without actually taking stock, because it’s bad.
But it needs to be cleaned up as part of our hurricane preparedness; there are things that have to be stored if a storm threatens. Arthur’s been promising a clearing out for a year now, which is appropriate, as 99% of the stuff is his.
He’s been in telephony for 40 years, so when I tell you that there’s even a box of CAT6 sitting on the garage floor… you won’t be shocked, right? Apparently left over from his old business, there are also totes full of various telephone parts. The phones are probably obsolete by now, but we’ve got the parts just in case.
It’s a good thing I love my pack rat.

I quit packratting shit a while ago. If there’s leftover shit at the end of a job, I heave it. It’s rare that you can actually use it for another job, and takes too much time to find (if you even remember what you have stockpiled). The jobs buy the material, which is as it should be. Last time I cleaned the garage I threw out scads of hardware and shit. But it went into the recycling container so the Goreskin would be proud!
