Just before dawn one morning two armed men break into your house through the back door. The first thing they encounter is your dog, which they shoot dead after it attempts to protect its home and family. The men then climb back out of the house, but you don’t know this, because you and your spouse have fled your home, leaving your 8 year old alone… presumably with two thugs who have just killed your dog!

Would it surprise you to know that the poll accompanying this story asking if the parents should face legal repercussions is running to a solid 56% YES? Me either.

I’d love to know the details of this case. Did the parents have a weapon of any sort they could have used for defense? Where was the the child’s bedroom? I’d think a mother or father’s first instinct would be to scoop the cherub up straightaway… and then make tracks. When it comes to flight or fight, not all of us are fighters… but the urge to run was so great neither could snag the kid first?

Mommy and Daddy need to be bitch slapped, hard. I wouldn’t leave my damned dog alone in the house with armed robbers, let alone my child or anyone else’s. WTF?
