One of the few people who could make me laugh without uttering a sound, Mr. Korman passed today at the age of 81. He will be missed.
“You have to have a certain persona to be a star, you know, and I don’t have that,” he once said. “I’m a banana.”
What a bummer.
Of all the movies I remember him in, I’ll never forget him acting alongside Cloris Leachman in High Anxiety. One of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen.
I wish they’d run those old Carol Burnett shows; loved ‘em, they were so hilarious.
High Anxiety is a classic! I’m going to have to rent that again… and rejoin the folks at the Institute for the Very Very Nervous.
Well, damn. Y’know, if more people would give up their huge ideas of changing the world and instead, make it their endeavor in life to just make folks laugh– well, they’d be as beloved as Mr. Korman. And the world would be a better place.
It’s just been made a little less of a better place with his passing.
Joan, you’re a philosopher! And a speaker of truth.

I saw the news that he had passed last night and my first thought was the Tim Conway & Carol Burnett must be absolutely gutted at the loss of such a long and dear friend.
We’re fortunate that he left us with so much laughter. But he was truly a bright and shining star that made our little corners of the world a bit brighter with his antics. Such a wonderful talent, he will be missed.

You said it perfectly, Lee Ann! ![]()
And at least Carol is reportedly ‘devastated’ by the loss. Her sec says that she loved him very much. That was always very apparent when they were together.
I can still see him and Carol Burnett and Tim Conway together, and you’re right, I just have to picture the expressions on their faces and I find myself grinning all over again.
