One month after her husband was hospitalized, my Best Friend’s Mother passed away this morning.
She had a heart attack last week and they put in a stint… I thought she was improving; people said she looked better than she had in years. But there was an infection and she never left the hospital…
After Bonna and her daughter got in to see her last night, she said she ready to go… and did.
Yes, my best friend’s name is Bonna. I never use her name here; I try to be private with my friends and family. Not secretive, but protective. Sometimes I write some pretty strident things, so I don’t want them made a target. But I need to see her name linked with her Mother’s today. Bonna is not her full name, but then neither is Jo’s. Again, just protective.
I just want to post some pictures of Jo, though I know nobody here knows her… it’s just for me. I know that.
She’s a wonderful woman, everyone’s Mom. Bonna drug home so many strays over the years, me included, and she was a Mom to all of us. I’m sure you know someone like that; a woman whose heart is so big it can hold enough love for everyone.
This is one of my favorite photographs of B’s parents.

At one of the Houston International Festivals with Bonna and I… It was the late 80s.

While Mom & Dad lived in Nashville, Bonna flew in from Houston and I drove up from Atlanta for Christmas. We went to the Grand Ole Opry. This is Mom, Me and Bonna. 1990.

Always taking care of everyone, Mom put together some trail mix for my drive back to Atlanta.

After Bonna and Wes’ wedding, October 1993.

A California trip a couple of years ago.

I hadn’t seen Jo for about 10 years, but I hope she comes to visit now.
If you’re a praying person, I’d ask that you say one for the family, especially Jo’s husband of over 50 years. Thanks.

Prayers said.
