The Rev loves playing to the audience, largely made up of his supporters. The press, as it has been pointed out, is in the balcony.
He preaches. He exhorts. It feels like Sunday as he works himself up to a froth about the ‘attacks on the black church’.
The questions afterward are predictable, and he smiles widely, anticipating each. The same words, the same feelings. Nothing has changed, and those who thought Wright would couch his earlier remarks with fluff here at the press club are disappointed. There are no retractions; he really is the man you thought he was; he really does believe the things you thought he did. Another confirmation.
It’s just a larger pulpit, beamed to the entire world.

Just to put into perspective with a little switcharoo as it were. If this were a white man, in a white church saying these same blasphemous things…well, he’d be tarred and feathered in the center of town. Branded a racist, a bigot, anti-semitic as well as un-American and un-patriotic and generally forced into a spider hole to live out his miserable days.
But then again, it’s all about the “Man” keeping you down Brother Rev. And I’m sure you’re the first in line, with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to hold your hand out and lift your voices to the sky for the long over reparations that you have all had *sniff sniff* suffer through the ages to receive.
*sniff* You are a true american hero Brother Rev. {wiping away a tear} *sniff* And the fact that you have had 20+ years of influencing the great Obama-siah, means that he must be the best person to represent ALL of God’s children (including those poor pale folks over there in the corner) in the White House. Tell it Brother Rev, tell it!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to wash my mouth and brain out with soap.
