YsD was firmly ensconced in the guest room when Bree came to us as a puppy a year ago, which means that for her entire life the dog had never seen the inside of that room until Monday night. YsD was vigilant and kept that door closed to any and all intruders with a force of will usually only seen in elementary school teachers and Navy Seals.
But once cleared out Bree took to her new playground immediately; it’s got a good vibe and is one of my favorite rooms in the house. Seeing that, I threw an old blanket over the new bedding so it wouldn’t get covered with dog hair right away. Everything does, eventually, but it’s new, dangit. It’s like having a baby throw up in your just-driven-off-the-lot BMW; there goes the new car smell!
The bed is still sitting in the middle of the room as I’m cleaning a bit every day. Yesterday I took the screens off the windows, cleaned them and the windows. Today I took down the blinds and will clean those outside. I need to do that with all the blinds in the house, actually.
So, anyway. I’m messing around in another part of the house and I hear Bree, but the sound is strange. Not a bark, not a yawn or whine. But I know it’s her like I know Arthur’s voice. So I go to the guest bath first, as sometimes she climbs into the tub then halfway out she forgets -or pretends to- how to climb back out. No Bree.
The last room I checked was the guest room simply because I didn’t know why she would be in there. She was lying on the bed, looking at herself in the mirror and talking to herself. ‘Mumbling’ might be a more descriptive word for it.

I took this the day after I found her there telling herself jokes; you can see she still likes looking at herself.
The whole deal reminded me of the Petco commercial:
Strange, isn’t it?

Oh, gosh…! The mumbling really is talking to themselves! I never would have believed that if you hadn’t confirmed it!

That cracks me up. What a ham she is.
Reminds me of Cody. He LOVED to watch TV and would “talk” during action movies and football games.
But his favorite thing? Standing up on the couch looking at the mirror hung there and “mumbling”…..I think it was a pep talk that he was really the boss….
