Vista speed! It’s not an oxymoron, or it doesn’t have to be.
I only have 2G of memory in this new system and my video card is not top of the line, so I wasn’t surprised that Vista felt ‘heavy’ with the visually dynamic ‘aero’ interface enabled. Though I do love the look, I felt that a brand new quad processor and twice as much memory as I had in my old five year old XP machine should mean a boost in performance. Arthur told me that I will see the difference in the future, with programs yet to be written that will take advantage of the new processor and bus speed… But I wanted a taste of speed myself… now.
Enter five quick Windows speedup tips from CNet. You’d not believe how light and fast my machine now feels. I highly recommend this article to anyone disappointed with Vista’s sluggishness!

Thanks for the link to the tips.
I’ve known about the first one forever and it is always the first thing I do to a new PC or OS load but it took me forever to find it in Vista. Why can’t they leave things where they were?

As in “kick this pig”? LOL!
Sucker’s lightening fast now, so much so that I went back and set the profile to ‘custom’ and put some of the bells back. No whistles, though. Nope.
Yay! I have been trying for 6 months to make friends with Vista…
