If it requires a device driver, use it as a target the next time you go shooting. If not, you’ll spend all your time at manufacturer’s web sites downloading what you think are the newest drivers, then lodging the ‘Y’ key in your forehead when the banging commences. Why banging? Because the device driver does not always include the updates to the software that came with your printer. The software you’ve depended on for a year or two. Surprise!
I love the programs that don’t require drivers, like TrayColor. I’ve been using this nifty little utility for at least 10 years and haven’t once had a problem. Long story short, it samples color. That’s it. The simplicity of it is beautiful.
I solved the Spybot problem by simply following their directions. D’oh!
Of course, Office went in like a kitten, purring and pleading with me to play with it. I spurned its advances at once, both repelled and curious at the improvements over its predecessor. I will be tamed, surely… but now I feel the lure of Sims downloads. Oh, and Bree wants walking. Why did I get a dog? She’s *so* cutting into my ass-widening time!
There must be a ‘perimeter’ outside my door; it sounds like Hanoi saluting Jane Fonda out there….

Now you know why I want to get my daughter an XP before they are gone… She needs a computer upgrade, but not only will she never figure out Vista (no time to do it) but she will never have time to go driver hunting - even if she knew what a driver was.
