Despite my many protestations, I have to admit there have been positive results from Youngest Daughter’s year long sabbatical with us.

[Not included is gaining weight. Nope.]

For one, I’ve started shopping again. For so many years I lived in t-shirts and shorts. And not just any short, one in particular. They feel so good, but look so bad on! I’ve got about 20 pairs in various conditions, from threadbare to brand new.
Not that the hideola shorts are going anywhere, but YD changed how I dress day to day in a major upheaval called “Let’s go shopping”.
I never went shopping anywhere except Publix before she got here but now I have a Macy’s card and know how to use it. I know what to look for but will also try on different things because now I know that I was wrong to wall myself off like I did for so long, hiding in those shorts and voluminous t-shirts. Oh, I still wear them, but not all the time.
Now I’m not ashamed of my puny wardrobe and can say ’sure, let’s go out to eat!’

Another point is scent. I can’t count the years since I’d bought perfume. Didn’t see the need, since I never went anywhere. Well, YD let me know that kind of thinking is just dead wrong. I need it for me. And when I do go out I can feel confident and good about myself because I’m wearing nice clothes and smelling good. It’s amazing how something like dabbing on a sexy little scent can make an evening…

I’m wearing Ralph Lauren’s Romance but want to expand my limited horizons… soon. I love Romance but don’t want to tire of the fragrance.

So, thanks to YD for the positive results. Now go clean your room.
