Hollywood really is different.
Their burgeoning pigeon population causing a mess, Hollywood-ites have decided to reduce the numbers of flying rats by putting them on birth control.
Over the next few months a birth control product called OvoControl P, which interferes with egg development, will be placed in bird food in new rooftop feeders.
The pilot program was expected to show results within a year, and the Hollywood area’s pigeon population is expected to shrink by at least half by 2012…
Of course, PETA is involved in this absurdity; it was their idea to utilize birth control.
Why not save money and kill them now instead of killing them as eggs putting them on birth control and waiting? Oh, nobody gets their hands dirty, nobody in Hollyweird has all those pigeon deaths on their hands. Gracious.
OvoControl does not kill anything. It acts as a contraceptive and prevents the egg from developing. Interfering with the vitalline membrane, no embryo is ever formed. Since it is a non-lethal technology, PETA supports the use.
