The cost to county taxpayers will be $25.4 million, according to officials. The figure includes buying the land for the Scripps headquarters, hooking up utilities and burying power lines.
But where is the $8 million for ‘minority programs’ coming from; the one that persuaded Commissioner Addie Greene to vote in favor of the development?
“I wanted to hear specifically what you are going to do for the African-American minority community” said Greene.
The county had previously paid $60 million for Mecca Farms, but a federal judge stopped construction last fall and the future of the property is now uncertain.
In Boudicca’s polite warning to Scripps last December, she counseled caution. More specifically, she gave directions… “Run away!”
EDIT: THIS is Abacoa.

Yaaa, maybe my house will get sold now!
