Luckily, they still allow private residential property, as long as the building is not used “as a childcare or health care facility”.

I don’t smoke, but I’d like the freedom to do so if I wished…
I don’t smoke anymore but if some do gooder otlaws spittin I am gonna have a tough time with my Skoal. That stuff can make me sick if I swallow too much of it.
Just spit on ‘em if they try it.
I can’t imagine the greenies doing that; there’s no second hand ‘pollutant’.
I wish that kind of stuff wasn’t necessary, but dang if some smokers are really inconsiderate about their second-handedness. When I smoked, I stayed away from people. I didn’t want them to smell it on the breeze, or get a drag from my butt still burning on the ground. I was a decent smoker, I thought. Now that I don’t smoke? I get really ticked off at people who don’t give a crap if their butt is burning right by my car door when I come out of the grocery store. Or if they are smoking right NEXT to the door when I come out of any building at all. I get to walk right through it, and smell like it. OH and then there are the parents who have slumber parties for their kids, and they smoke IN the house around my kids who have respiratory junk around that much smoke. And my kids come home smelling like an ashtray.
I know, I know. I’ve become one of “them”. It would be nice, though, if some smokers would be more considerate about smokin’. Then there wouldn’t be enough people griping loud enough to have a need for an ordinance.
That’s very true, Leanne, there are smokers who just don’t care, and they are the problem. I’m lucky enough to live with a considerate smoker, and don’t run into the other type much, so it hasn’t been a problem for me.
Unfortunately, there are no smokeless cigs, so even the considerate smokers are being targeted for discrimination because of a by-product.
If this trend continues I bet the tobacco companies will find a way around it…
After reading the story, I had to fight to urge to fly to California and have a smoke-in on their precious sidewalks.
I dropped cigarettes in 1991, but it’s getting mighty tempting to light up, just on principle.
We should sue them for making us want to light up!
