A healthy rough collie is pretty easy to maintain, provided one keeps up with daily brushings and a bath every 3 to 6 months. Let’s not talk about nails. Tess is old, not healthy, on some pretty potent drugs and needs to be bathed in special shampoo every couple of weeks.
After 11 years I’ve just had enough… and started shaving her today. Enlarge the pic and you’ll see her shopping in the trash, but also that her petticoat is gone, as is all the hair on her tail… It’s so pathetic it’s funny… But please, don’t let her hear you laugh.
Her next trip to the vet is going to be a hoot, but I really hope I get the rest off before we go…
When Tess was young and her hair hadn’t grown in yet people thought she was a German Shepherd. 
Shaved dogs are funny.
We had our Border Collie shaved a couple summers ago. She looked like a freakin’ Rottweiler.
